DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Solutions Delivery team works at the crossroads of business and systems.  You will directly impact the bottom line of the company by providing solutions through programming in RPG and other languages.  DaySpring has a smaller IT environment and you will have a chance to learn the business and increase your analysis and technical skills as you work in all aspects of delivering effective and efficient solutions to business problems.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an energetic, skilled RPG programmer who wants to make a difference. You will be designing, constructing and delivering business applications and system solutions in a fast-paced and fun environment. You'll work with a seasoned team of Business Systems Analysts and Business Application Developers using RPG on the IBM i platforms.  You will have opportunity to learn other environments using VS.Net in a SQL Server/iSeries AS/400 database environment that fully leverages SSIS, SSAS, SSRS reporting, and SharePoint.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop, modify and test new or existing programs using RPG and SQL/DB2. This duty is performed 40% of the time.
  2. Work with Business Analysts to analyze and define requirements. This duty is performed 20% of the time.
  3. Be on call to troubleshoot systems. This duty is performed 15% of the time.
  4. Help implement systems and train users, and document the systems developed. This duty is performed 15% of the time.
  5. Help with the systems administration to keep the system performing optimally. This duty is performed 10% of the time.
  6. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree or 4 or more years of RPG experience
  2. 3 or more years of system administration experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to be an effective team member.
  • Able to interact well with people to gather requirements and train on a system.
  • Able to work independently from start to finish.
  • Able to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Able to code in RPG / RPGLE / CL / DDS / SQLRPGLE / RPG Free.  Knowledgeable of Service Program architectures.
  • Knowledgeable in Advanced Job Scheduler, iSeries Navigator
  • Able to effectively debug a problem in an unknown system.
  • Skilled in database (SQL syntax, creating stored procedures, data base design, etc.).
  • Skilled in system administration (Job queue, Print queue, BRMS backup and recovery)
  • Familiar with SQL Server
  • Familiar with SharePoint.
