The Editorial department at DaySpring is crucial to the success of DaySpring.  We help create products by writing, editing and proofing cards, gifts, calendars, planners, and some books.  Our messages are at the core of what makes DaySpring unique in the marketplace. We are central to helping our consumers experience and express their faith through our products.  The Editorial department is key to making sure our product attributes are followed.  We love DaySpring and our mission, we love one another, and we have fun! 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Write, edit, and rewrite copy for all products in assigned developments.  Manage the line balance. This duty is performed about 40% of the time.
•    Collaborate with Product Managers & Art Directors to create products that exceed consumer expectations.  This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
•    Manage workload in the midst of overlapping developments and keep development on schedule.  This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
•    Develop editorial strategies for assigned developments.  This duty is performed about 5% of the time.
•    Research consumer marketing and spiritual trends/movements.  This duty is performed about 5% of the time.
•    Other reasonably related duties as assigned.
 
REQUIREMENTS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You must have these to be considered for this role:
1.    High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
2.    2 or more years of professional writing experience.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
You will stand out if you have these:
•    Bachelors or Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism or Biblical studies.
•    Card or gift writing experience
•    Adaptable and Flexible.
•    Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
•    Strong collaborative and relational skills
•    Exceptional level of detail and accuracy orientation.
•    Strong language skills.
•    Understanding of and appreciation for the DaySpring mission.

 

Candidates who interview with us will be asked to demonstrate aptitude through spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading assessments. They will also be asked to submit writing samples for composition evaluation.
