The Demand & Inventory Planning Director is responsible for defining, developing and executing comprehensive and integrated demand planning and inventory management strategies to deliver profitable revenue growth for DaySpring. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent establishes and is accountable for the alignment of demand and inventory decisions with the strategies correlated to consumer and customer interests, financial objectives, and supply chain strategy.
This leader develops, manages, and motivates a team of demand and inventory planning professionals and fosters an environment with a strong results orientation and a collaborative work style, within the team and internal partner organizations to ensure principled business decision-making.   Demonstrates broad, influential leadership across job levels and/or outside of discipline.   

 

Strategy & Capability Development
•    Oversees all demand and inventory strategies and solutions and develops the capabilities required to deliver on the consumer and customer strategies.
•    Understands and embeds demand and inventory industry practices, principles and processes within the organization. Define and drive work processes to systematize, streamline and institutionalize demand and inventory planning capabilities.
•    Collaborates with senior leadership for product categories, customer development, finance and supply chain to develop and ensure demand/inventory planning is linked to business and financial plans which includes major program activities
•    Collaborates with Product Management and Creative to develop integrated annual plan.  
•    Benchmarks against the market to develop the technology vision and plan to support the necessary systems and tools; Identifies schedule, process and technology improvement to enhance integrated business management.  
•    Contributes to senior leadership assessments of key opportunities
•    Establishes strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and establish key success metrics with stakeholders  

 

Inventory & Demand Planning
•    Determines, leads, and oversees enterprise-level inventory and demand planning at the product level
•    Directs and oversees the evaluation of forecast inputs, ensures forecast accuracy and seeks ways to continuously improve; directs forecasting and demand planning activities 
•    Directs inventory strategies, policies and segmentation methodologies for assigned businesses; oversees and ensures that individual finished goods production/procurement decisions are made in accordance with inventory policies (including asset management, serviceability, segments, lot size, etc.) and oversees compliance with the supply network strategy related to internal/external allocation and allocation among internal plants
•    Directs forecasting activities, which forms the basis for timely and accurate corporate sales plans and production and distribution requirements; Incorporates demand relative to new or revised model lines, including the exit of existing product and merchandising solutions
•    Accountable for asset management and ensuring inventory levels are aligned to execute and deliver upon the required levels of serviceability at retail.
•    Ensures market intelligence information is gathered and accurately assessed to fine tune forecasts and gain consensus on the final forecast 
•    Stays abreast of internal/external conditions that might impact the forecast

•    Provides leadership and direction to the demand and inventory planning staff 
•    Establishes  clear and measurable objectives, coaches and develops staff in needed skills and capabilities in pursuit of retail growth and optimal business outcomes
•    Anticipates competencies necessary to support future inventory and demand planning practices; hires and develops talent accordingly; Facilitate changes in organization, staffing, recruiting, and training of staff.  
•    Demonstrates credible, capable managerial talents including effective, timely decision-making and collaboration throughout the organization.  
•    Develops strong, positive relationships, effective linkage and integration with key partners.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (required for candidates to be considered):  

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business or related field 
  • 10 or more years of relevant business/product/finance/assortment management/supply chain experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (optimal education and work experience):   

  • MBA or Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Previous management and leadership experience
  • APICS or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience with inventory and/or demand planning across Product Categories, Supply Chain, Retail, Customer Development, product management or finance
  • Experience with merchandise planning
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
