RESPONSIBILITIES

The general purpose of the Merchant position is the ownership of the model line, sales materials, promotion planning, and promotional materials for the Home Party business. Collaborates with internal product teams, home office team and field leadership to meet consumer needs with compelling products and offers. Creates product and promotion strategy and communicates the direction for sales planning, pricing and merchandise assortment. Monitors stock, sales and markdowns to ensure that financial plans are met and supports the long-term business unit plans. The Merchandise Manager:

 

  • Analyzes data and insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
  • Provides business, marketplace and industry research including customer feedback to inform merchandising, catalog and promotion strategies.
  • Owns, maintains and communicates active catalog model line with internal product teams and home office team.
  • Collaborates with product teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category model line.
  • Creates and facilitates a product and a promotion consultant advisory boards.
  • Devises long-term strategies for product categories with internal product teams using inputs from the home office team and field leadership.
  • Develops product lifecycle strategies including exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Owns the monthly product and promotional blueprint process including communication to internal business partners.
  • Makes forecasts for product demand to ensure product availability to meet consumer demands.
  • Performs other reasonably-related duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher
  2. 6 or more months of professional experience or business internship experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - the ideal candidate will have these attributes

  • Previous merchandise experience 3+ years preferred.
  • Home party business experience a plus.
  • Ability to research and analyze products, markets and consumers.  Understands influences that impact consumer behavior and decision-making. Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and reprioritize projects frequently.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Outlook
  • An understanding of and appreciation for the DaySpring mission
