The Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE) is the organization within Hallmark Technology that is responsible for:

  • Building a world-class, consumer-focused caring platform that enables Hallmark’s lines of business (LOB) across the enterprise (Crayola, Crown Media, Hallmark Global) to accelerate their direct-to-consumer product strategies
  • Developing a Cloud-first, multi-tenant digital platform that provides capabilities and services, such as a unified Hallmark Profile, Product Recommendations, Global Payment services, etc.
  • Building, securing, and operating digital consumer products for Hallmark’s LOBs
  • Scaling development capabilities to build for Hallmark’s future

 

As a member of the DCOE group, you'll partner with high functioning, high-energy teams of cross-functional disciplines that bring products like Hallmark.com and our Hallmark Gold Crown Omnichannel network to life for our consumers. With a consumer-first focus, this group delivers impactful digital solutions that have a direct impact on consumer brand engagement and retention in the digital space, which results in revenue growth and brand relevance.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

You're a hands-on DevOps Engineer ready to join the DCOE’s Engineering team. Your primary responsibilities include infrastructure development and maintenance of the DCOE’s AWS platform.  In addition, you’ll provide insight to cross-functional colleagues (e.g. Architecture, Development, Product, UX, Security) about technical requirements and limitations encountered as development meets infrastructure. 

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

As a DevOps Engineer in the team, you will work with a team of DevOps Engineers to support software development; where automation, IaaS, security, and resiliency are paramount. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining an infrastructure for a multi-site development team including source code repository, release tools, scripts, packaging, and deployment tools.
You will own customer-facing/production infrastructure as well as Development, QA, and Staging environments.  In addition to the basics listed above, this also includes monitoring/alerting, vulnerability management and patching, automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and representing/working with other departments to ensure we’re supporting the business in a scalable manner to support the growing consumer base.  We love innovation, and support efforts that provide automated systems for the purpose of 99.99% uptime.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • B.S. degree  in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience with a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.
  • Experience with cloud security best practices.
  • Experience working with a team of infrastructure engineers in a 24x7 environment.
  • Held a prior role with responsibility for high scalability/availability systems, security, and systems support in a heterogeneous infrastructure environment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume will stand out if you have:

  • 2+ years experience with AWS strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Cloud DevOps Engineering team strongly preferred
  • Experience with Shell, Python, and Golang.
  • Experience with Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Gitlab and Jenkins.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK, Grafana, Zabbix, other open-source/cloud-ready tools.
  • Experience with implementing disaster recovery, capacity planning, monitoring/alerting of availability/performance, and log aggregation and event management systems.
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking architecture and other core network technologies (DNS, HTTP, Routing, Firewalls, Load Balancers, etc.).
  • Familiar with both SQL and NoSQL technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB.
  • Familiar with Agile processes and DevOps manifesto.
