The Assortment Planner develops the assortment within the defined space and grouping of product at a store cluster level.  This position’s key objective is developing the appropriate product mix in the right segment of stores and appropriate footprints via the translation of customer-centric, consumer–centric and visual merchandising strategies into business rules.  This position partners primarily with the Assortment Planning Manager to contribute both the strategic and analytical perspective of the business by providing information and feedback to the customer and merchant teams to maximize sales while minimizing financial risk for Hallmark. 



The right candidate for this role will operate as the owner of their assigned season.  He/she must be passionate about the consumer and intellectually curious about their business, demonstrate the ability to analyze their assortments, understand key drivers of the assortment and provide recommended insights and actions that deliver results. Critical to success is the ability to establish credibility while relying on expertise of others and developing collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners.




Cluster Assortment Planning:

  • Develops assortments within the defined space and grouping of product at a store cluster level
  • Translates customer-centric, consumer–centric and visual merchandising strategies into business rules
  • Ensure alignment with strategy and financial objectives.
  • Collaborates with the merchant team and key customer teams to establish a strategy for all new program placement and rooftop targeting to result in effective execution at retail. 


Program Execution:

  • Develop season specific footage layout grids that enable displays to be setup at retail
  • Develop sku adjacency recommendations for distribution layout
  • Supports presentations with assortment plans, as well as other strategic and tactical recommendations. 
  • Improves effectiveness of all assortments, outposts, etc. through sales analysis, and assortment choices.


This is a progressive role and will be filled based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 years professional experience with data analysis
  • MInimum of 2 years of experience working in analytic role
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint



  • Experience in assortment planning with knowledge of industry leading tools
  • Experience in consumer/marketing analytics, product management, retail analytics, and/or business strategy
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate across diverse audiences
  • Proficient in Excel
