ABOUT US:

Hallmark's Insights & Analytics organization is responsible for the oversight of our centralized data, analytics, and market research organization, focused on advancing our insight-led capabilities to innovate and modernize how consumers experience our brand, as well as representing the critically important consumer point of view.

 

Hallmark’s Data Science team is a critical part of the Insights & Analytics organization and provides highly actionable solution building, problem solving, & consultation for the Hallmark Global business. We focus on using data to more deeply understand our products, customers, consumers and business processes, leveraging a vast number of data sources to our advantage. We focus on building machine learning and production-level capabilities to advance the business and better serve our consumers. We are looking for motivated individuals who love building robust code, exploring data, developing new experiments and models, and driving the business through actionable recommendations.

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

The Data Science Director plays a leadership role in Hallmark’s analytics organization and is responsible for overseeing activities of the data science team ensuring proper execution of duties and alignment with the business’ overall vision. The incumbent is responsible for the creation of new data sciences capabilities for the business by envisioning and executing strategies that will continuously improve business performance by enabling informed decision making.

 

The Data Science Director proactively works with business executives and various departmental heads across the business in order to provide advanced analytic data modeling systems. Responsible for designing and launching innovative and complex analytic models, utilizing a blend of contemporary and traditional data mining techniques, which s/he applies to both structured and unstructured data sets.

 

The Data Science Director leads the development of big data capabilities and utilization as well as plays a key role in the coordination of cross-functional analytic initiatives. The role is responsible for implementing and managing governance and prioritization practices to ensure application of resources to biggest priorities.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in business, industrial engineering, operations research, marketing research, math/statistics, or data science
  • Minimum 10 years of increasingly advanced data scientist experience
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of big data application experience
  • Minimum 5 years of data visualization experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline
  • Experience with unstructured data and related tools (e.g., Hadoop)
  • 10 years of applied analysis in a business environment
  • 5 years of project management experience
  • 2 years of experience in each of the following: Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Cloud infrastructure, Data Lakes (eg., Hadoop), Python or R, analytics related programming, and Visual Analytics
  • Proven track record of working with predictive analytics and corresponding modeling tools
  • Demonstrated leadership; proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary talent teams in new endeavors and delivering solutions
  • Experience operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain analytic process concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
  • Passionate about creating a data-driven culture
