The Department Category Planning Analyst position is responsible for space planning projects at store level, ensuring the most productive and strategically relevant Hallmark store/department is installed. This role makes critical decisions about the category mix for each department and is responsible for determining which product lines to plan and place in stores, the footage allocation, and category adjacencies.  This role owns the process for comprehensive department space planning analysis and impacts product line placement and category sales based on evaluation of store positioning, customer requirements, marketplace demographics/shopper insight, and category mix plan so that retail performance is optimized and performance objectives are met and exceeded.    Responsibilities include:



Floor Planning (Macro Space):
Implement store-level targeting and product line placement in support of category, innovative and strategic initiatives. Develops proper product line mix for each store based upon category strategic direction, department analytics, store specific space planning requirements, demographic profiles and field feedback.   


Workflow Process and Validation:

Complete and validate all required elements of floorplan execution are met to ensure installation success. Work with comprehensive partners to minimize issues at retail and obtain any potential cost savings.


Work Collaboratively with Internal Partners: Work with Supply Chain and Customer Development to understand Hallmark Retail and category strategic intent and direction. Leverage learnings and share insights with sales partners and ensure consistent thought processes across all departments.


Administrative and Organization

Work with customer teams to track floorplan change details, process change management and ensure activities dates are met in a timely manner.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years in professional work experience 
  • 3 + years experience in one or more of the following areas:  Space & Assortment Planning, Sales, Store Planning in an analytics-focused role, experience in Supply Chain, Customer Teams or GMS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)



Understanding of retail product.

Knowledge of store operations, store planning or field/retail execution experience.

Understanding/Knowledge of Customer Teams, Analytics, Space and Assortment planning, OMS, and GMS.

Detail-oriented, problem-solving and can employ leadership and critical thinking skills.

Able to work effectively both independently and in teams.

Strong analytical skills.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive deadlines and projects.

Proven relationship management skills and track record of effective partnership across diverse functional areas.

Strong communication skills to diverse audiences both written and verbal.

Experience in leading or participating in cross-divisional team projects.
