As a member of the Digital Creative Marketing team, you'll partner with a cross-disciplinary team of user experience, user interface, interaction design, editorial, development and marketing professionals to turn business strategies into exceptional, on-brand design solutions across a variety of digital touchpoints. With an Omnichannel focus, this team delivers consumer experiences that have a direct impact on brand engagement, revenue growth and brand relevance.

 

The Digital Designer supports Hallmark’s consumer-facing digital capabilities (primarily on Hallmark.com, but also in apps, emails, ads, and in-store and social media experiences). Along with a deep understanding of digital best practices, they employ a range of styles to deliver innovative and successful design solutions. They are actively engaged with studio managers, art directors, and peers in maintaining a productive, engaged, flexible, and resilient creative environment.  The Digital Designer is assigned work and takes direction from the Studio Art Director (and, at times, the Studio Editorial Director) who lead the team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The Digital Designer can leverage existing assets and style guides or create something new to solve challenges for a web-specific context, while focusing on all the elements of strong creative execution: emotion, concept, trend, color, hierarchy, editorial tone and visual impact.
  • Designs homepages, marketing landing pages, shop pages, communications, and content updates across Hallmark.com.
  • Develops design playbooks, wireframes, mockups, and other conceptual guides to facilitate cross-team strategizing.
  • Provides input for photoshoots, and performs photo retouching as needed
  • Publishes content via a Content Management System
  • As part of the design process, collaborates with UX and UI Designers, and Front-end developers.
  • Makes recommendations for evolving the marketing strategies and capabilities of the website.
  • Demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship grounded in brand and consumer understanding as well as platform objectives and commercialization strategies. Is a constant learner and challenges themselves to keep evolving their design contribution.
  • Identifies, creates, and curates visual assets
  • Engages a diverse range of sources and resources to understand emotion-based connecting needs, visually impactful design solutions, and expectations of the Hallmark brand.  Applies and shares formal and informal knowledge to create original, successful design and concept solutions.  Stays informed about the social expression and other relevant industries and other competitive markets as defined by platforms and new formats
  • Demonstrates strong communication, visionary, and strategic skills.  Meets productivity goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • The following is required to be considered for this role:
  • BFA or BA in one of the following areas: graphic design, illustration, design, multimedia or related visual communications field. Alternative qualifications would include 8+ years’ experience in creative field encompassing one or more of the following aforementioned areas.
  • 5 years of professional experience in web design, graphic design, visual design, or UI design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong visual design skills and thought process as demonstrated in portfolio
  • 8+ years of working in web design, graphic design, visual design, UI design, or related field
  • Experience in Ecommerce (online shopping) and day-to-day website marketing
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, etc)
  • Proficiency with web design tools like Axure, AdobeXD, Sketch, InVision, etc.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and teamwork skills along with excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise way, ensuring the organization makes rapid and informed decisions
  • Strong people skills – ability to work effectively across discipline, role, department and leadership level
  • Self-motivation with capability of balancing multiple projects and producing deliverables in a timely manner
  • Execute with a high attention to detail
  • Basic understanding/experience working with a Content Management System (CMS)
  • Basic understanding of technologies used to build web-based solutions (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of web accessibility standards
