The Merchandising Assistant at Halls Kansas City is responsible for assisting the Retail Division Buyer in the function of their role by working with vendors and department managers in the processing of orders, vendor charge backs and special orders.

 

  • At the buyer's direction or during buyer's absence, assists with reordering, markdowns, transfers, cancellations, vendor and department manger questions. Markdowns, transfers, and cancellations are the responsibility of the assistant to prepare and put into action.
  • Evaluates statistical data on volume performance on a daily, monthly and seasonal basis to be used by the buyer to make decisions on the procurement, re-order or markdown of merchandise.
  • Works with buyer to update and adjust season assortment charts and reports. Helps buyer prepare for market by preparing vendor analysis report including sell-through reports, vendor purchases and markdown information.
  • At buyer's direction or in buyer's absence, contacts vendors for information such as availability of specific merchandise, shipping dates, and product information.
  • Checks incoming product against purchase orders on file for accuracy of items and quantities ordered. Works with Accounting and Inventory Control to correct discrepancies on reports including inventory, markdowns, sales, etc.
  • Processes vendor charge backs and returns forms received from department manager and forwards to buyer.
  • Maintains special order file, reviews file to establish the status of special orders, and communicates status to department manager when requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position is $10.85/hr. - $18.14/hr. depending on level of skills and experiences.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED or higher.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Typing must be 40 wpm.

 

Internal candidates with test scores on filed dated April 16, 2018 or before MUST retake all  Microsoft and typing tests once selected for an interview.

 

Upon selection to interview, you will be contacted by a Recruiting Assistant to schedule your testing within 5 days of receipt of the email notification. Tests must be completed and passed prior to interview.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Previous luxury retail experience
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills
  • Good customer service and teamwork skills

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (70% of time is spent sitting at a desk/computer).
  • This position will work Monday through Friday during normal business hours with occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs.
  • This position is located in Kansas City, MO - no relocation will be provided.
