The Internal auditor - Finance is responsible for executing individual internal audit projects (as part of the overall Internal Audit plan) which evaluate:
• the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls;

• compliance with financial reporting standards, including generally accepted accounting principles;

• compliance with Hallmark policies and procedures, and relevant laws and regulations;
• opportunities to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.


Other role responsibilities include development of the audit scope, executing audit procedures, and preparing audit reports that reflect the results of the performed work. Additionally, the Finance Internal Auditor performs follow-up on the status of outstanding action items stemming from completed audits.  This position will assist Internal Audit management with periodic reporting to the audit committee, development of the annual Internal Audit plan, and championing internal control and corporate governance concepts throughout the business.  The Finance Internal Auditor will also provide consulting support to ensure appropriate risks are identified and communicated and will complete special projects as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional experience with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ experience in public accounting or internal audit (including financial statement audits)
  • MBA, CPA, or CIA
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, conflict management, facilitation, interviewing, and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines with expected results.
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for enhancing knowledge in technology and audit areas.
  • Local Kansas City candidates strongly preferred
