The Product Integrity department is responsible for protecting the Hallmark brand.  We work with business partners throughout the Greetings organization to exceed customer expectations.  Product Integrity has a robust Quality Management System and Global Quality Metrics that we are accountable for.  Supplier partnerships and handoff integrity are key to the department End to End performance.  Product Integrity is looking for a dynamic individual who can use their technical expertise to support innovation, perform SKU level execution and facilitate process improvement within Product Integrity and across the Supply Chain. Package Engineering collaborates with a variety of teams across divisions. We leverage global resources to deliver compelling packaging solutions by combining business needs, consumer needs, and creative aspirations with existing and emerging capabilities. Package Engineering is comprised of a team of both packaging engineers and specialists that support product lines within Greetings, Gift Presentation, Packaged Expressions and Retail Product Development Divisions.  Role Responsibilities include: 


Works with creative and marketing teams to develop unique packaging solutions for the variety of products in Greetings (cards), Gift Presentation (ex: bags, tissue, wrapping paper), Packaged Expressions (ex: stationery and boxed cards) and Retail (ex: gift product sold in Gold Crown stores),

Provides engineering guidance and direction to package designers in the development and implementation of unique retail packaging concepts to achieve a specific look or function
Has a working knowledge of packaging materials that includes the manufacturing, converting and decorative processes that can be used for those packaging materials
Designs solutions to overcome technical challenges in package development and execution throughout the internal and external manufacturing and distribution processes
Develops specifications and directs the completion of technical drawings and prototypes based on  criteria provided by the product development team
Develops specifications for pallet programs including pallet configurations and layouts, guidance on structural integrity and shipping needs for various customers
Champions innovations that are guided by consumer insights

Develops and implements new ideas to measurably grow revenue and earnings
Does so in close collaboration with all business partners to meet requirements for functionality, quality, cost and design integrity, and a thorough understanding of the dependencies of retail to wholesale and shipping carton solutions - working with Distribution and be able to simulate shipping conditions & effectively test solutions for effective protection of the product.


This is a progressive role that will be filled at the level based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in  Package Science or Engineering OR 2+ years in Package engineering field

  • Strong materials knowledge
  • Strong package structure design understanding and experience (retail, wholesale and shipping)
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the time to manufacturing plants and supplier facilities
  • To be successful in this role, the incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team of people with diverse skill backgrounds. Short deadlines are common; must be able to work under pressure.  Energy and enthusiasm for new product development is essential.
