The Hallmark Payroll department is responsible for timely and accurate payment to over 25,000 employees in multiple corporations across the US and Canada.  The Payroll Department is a fast paced, deadline driven work environment.  There are always new challenges as we adapt to constantly changing legislation and corporate policies.  We are responsible for maintaining, processing, and distributing wage payments, supplemental wages, employee deductions and payroll taxes in compliance with Hallmark policies and federal, state, and local laws. We provide related information to employees, internal and external customers, and governmental agencies while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data.

The Payroll Systems Analyst plays an important role in paying all Hallmark employees accurately and timely.   The analyst works closely with multiple business partners such as Human Resources, Legal, and Benefits to ensure all aspects of the paycheck are handled accurately and in line with policy and legislation.  This includes investigating and answering questions regarding the capabilities of the existing system and sharing implications of policy changes.The payroll team’s analysts have varied responsibilities and can include such things as:

  • Processing payrolls for US and Canadian employees using Oracle and/or ADP - beginning with time imports all the way through to releasing the funds to the bank. 
  • Being an escalation point for other members of the payroll team for research and resolution of complex issues. 
  • Using database query tools to produce reports off payroll data for business partners Working with IT to resolve interface. issues and to test updates and enhancements to the system . 
  • Working on special projects for business enhancements or to meet new legislative requirements.
  • Identifying and developing ways to simplify and improve current processes. 
  • Systemically posting payroll to the general ledger and researching account reconciliation issues. 
  • Making adjustments in Oracle required for W2Cs.  
  • Reconciling taxes withheld to those sent to our vendor for quarterly tax returns.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years of payroll experience
  • High school diploma

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five years of payroll experience
  • Analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of an integrated payroll system involving benefit feeds and multiple timekeeping systems
  • Creative problem solving with the ability to see the big picture
  • Project management experience
  • Collaborative
  • Resourceful & well organized
  • In-depth knowledge of taxes and the ability to apply to employee level detail
  • Understanding of quarterly payroll tax filings
  • Canadian payroll experience is a plus
  • System conversion experience is a plus
  • Accounting knowledge is a plus
