The Risk Management Financial Analyst position reports to the Risk Management Insurance & Claims Manager and provides several critical enterprise-wide functions key to the risk financing and claims functions within Hallmark’s Risk Management department. 





Priority responsibilities of the position include financial analysis of claims activities as well as creation and maintenance of managerial reporting to support the insurance and claims functions of Hallmark.

Additionally, the financial analyst will be responsible for the accounting and expense reconciliations of all insurance and claims accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis as well as assisting in developing the overall financial picture of the insurance and claims portfolios for Hallmark, including but not limited to, the active number of claims, the ongoing reserve liability, and other impacts that claims or insurance activities may have on Hallmark from an enterprise-wide perspective.



  • Work in a business partner capacity in working to develop forecast and budget allocations with various business units within Hallmark and may be asked on occasion to attend meetings with various business units to serve as an information conduit between Risk Management Leadership and the business unit as well as perform discrete fact-finding as it pertains to any potential operational, financial, or other business risks.
  • The financial analyst will also be responsible for processing payments for claims, insurance policies, surety bonds, and regulatory filings with state departments of worker’s compensation.
  • The financial analyst will play an integral role in the creation and maintenance of managerial reporting for Hallmark’s insurance and claims portfolio to help drive decision making as it relates to insurance and claims. Depending on experience and skillset, this position may also assist in the collection and gathering of underwriting materials to support the placement of insurance policies as well.


The Risk Financial Analyst will attend meetings, interact with all levels of management, and be asked to regularly contribute to discussions with insurance brokers and claims third-party administrators. Punctuality, Discretion, and Accuracy will be required in this position as the activities the Financial Analyst will undertake in this role will have a direct impact on the decision-making related to insurance placement and the management of all claims for Hallmark.




The following is required to be considered for this role:


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a professional capacity that employs use of a broad range of general business skills.

  • Advanced technology skills using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet applications, legacy mainframe experience, SAP/e-pay system familiarity, and other financial reporting systems used by Hallmark.
  • General knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance terms, policy formats and pricing structures -particularly with respect to loss sensitive insurance policies.
  • General knowledge of insurance company operating policies and practices.  Practical experience in statistics and probability forecasting.  Requires proven excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.  Proficiency in the use of mainframe FOCUS and personal computers.  Proven ability to prioritize work and operate with a minimum of supervision.




This position is located out of our headquarters office in Kansas City, MO. Relocation is not available. This is a progressive role that will be filled at the level based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.
