OVERVIEW:

The T&BE Architect links the T&BE strategies to multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of the organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner. We are responsible for generating architecture policies, standards, and procedures.  Partners with service delivery teams to create the application, data, and technology designs for new services.  Applies enterprise-level architectures to his/her scope. The T&BE Architects are technology portfolio managers, owning end-to-end T&BE process for the technology portfolio, including ideation, designing, building, deployment, support, monitoring and debugging. Aligns technology architecture with process portfolios, external research, and strategy development. Delivers and ensures architectural direction and compliance that is practical, achievable and meets the business needs.  Emphasis can be placed on one-to-many architectural disciplines, including business, data, technology, application, and services.

 

THE SENIOR ARCHITECT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Determine/create/plan/design business architecture linked to business architecture:
    • Factors in significant internal and external drivers that influence the business
    • Understand and align with strategic and portfolio architecture

 

  • Determine architecture standards and agenda (process, application, data, technology)
    • Define data, application, and technical architecture and determine architecture trade-offs
    • Synthesize, prioritize, frame, and communicate strategies
    • Provide a point of view regarding priorities, gap analysis, implications
    • Ensure re-use/define new re-use opportunities
    • Prioritization of new services and align innovations opportunities to T&BE strategy
    • Define the requirements and direct the build of development, test, and production environments

 

  • Deliver technology in support of T&BE services
    • Recommend technology components and data structures
    • Address technology/data related issues in the design, engineering and deployment phases of a project

 

Addtional Duties Includes:

  • Tracks and documents value realization of enterprise architecture work
  • Manages governance by establishing measurements and conducting assessments of performance or development against standards
  • Provides recommendations to standards, policy, and contract owners

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology related field or equivalent comparable education and experience.
  • Experience in a technology related field (e.g., application development, application support.
  • Experience working with a team of technology engineers in a 24x7 cloud or hybrid cloud environment.
  • Hvae managed and monitored systems hosted by public cloud providers and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google).

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Masters or MBA Degree
  • Cloud certified (AWS Certified, Azure Certified, etc.)
  • Previous management experience in a related technology field (e.g. application development, application support, technology and/or infrastructure support). 
  • 4+ years public cloud experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with IaaS design, automation, and micro-service systems architecture.
  • 3+ years’ experience with capacity planning, utilization review, and monitoring of availability and performance.
  • Experience with enterprise IT infrastructure or operations
  • Experience with cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with automation languages such as Python and Cloud formation.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Rundeck, Ant, or Maven.
  • Experience with implementing disaster recovery, capacity planning, monitoring/alerting of availability/performance, and log aggregation and event management systems.
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking architecture and other core network technologies (DNS, HTTP, Routing, Firewalls, Load Balancers, etc.).
  • Familiar with both SQL and NoSQL technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.
