What we do from concept to market helps create a unique experience and enables consumers to show the recipient how much they care while expressing their unique style.  This role will help lead the charge to bring Hallmark’s most iconic products to the consumer, wherever and whenever they desire. As part of the Hallmark Digital team, you will join a highly collaborative cross-functional group with a passion for charting new ground and driving growth for the company.

 

The Senior Merchant I or II will be responsible for leading the product development,  assortment, and online merchandising for the gift presentation or greetings ecommerce business.  Ultimately this role will strive to ensure Hallmark gift presentation or greetings is relevant and accessible in the online marketplace/s and our customers see Hallmark as a best-in class partner for digital commercialization.  It will provide strategic direction and oversight for overall product, platform, pricing and consumer activation strategy for the gift presentation or greetings business in order to deliver on strategic and financial objectives of the Hallmark digital commercialization team.  Emphasis is on converging brand strategy with consumer, customer, market and category insights to drive ecommerce growth and innovation, P&L management and executional excellence. 

 

Accountability will include oversight and leadership to take a product or program from strategy to production to commercialization, with ability to communicate with all functions within the company and define the go-to-market strategy for the category in ecommerce.  This role will be the gift presentation or greetings lead for the Amazon business, and a key interface for all click & collect retailers, in addition collaborate across gift presentation or greetings team.  In addition will lead partnership with internal creative, customer development, and other partners. Ensures delivery of sales, profits, retail performance goals, while building Hallmark brand relevance and digital commercialization leadership.   This leader will develop, manage, and motivate a cross functional team and fosters an environment with a strong results orientation and a collaborative work style.  A successful incumbent will provide directional and strategic clarity and develops world-class analytic capability among the team in order to drive greater efficiencies, better decision-making, and eliminate waste.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing or Finance or 4 years of equivalent, professional work experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or an MBA

Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience, including roles in BU/ line mgt, functional/ support and a broad understanding business overall (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Ventures, etc.)

A deep understanding of the consumer needs within the Hallmark businesses
Ability to develop and act upon consumer and shopper insights through the  generation of new and unique consumer product solutions
Experience developing new business models ranging from product, supply chain and financial models
A good business partner with a high degree of talent and influence
High-level of curiosity and collaboration
