The Transportation Strategist will also work with facilities and cross-divisional teams to drive improvements, forecast demand, and optimize routings to leverage service partnerships for the entire Hallmark family of companies. To do this effectively, this individual must seek to understand business partner needs, initiatives, and vision to align transportation resources for optimal support. The Strategist keeps close contact with daily operations, to ensure carrier & cost decisions are effectively supporting the needs of the business.


Global Transportation provides innovative transportation and global trade solutions that enable a flexible and efficient supply chain for the Hallmark family of companies.  We translate business requirements and utilize logistics industry best practices to develop optimized solutions for our evolving supply chain.   The Global Transportation team acts as a liaison between Hallmark business entities and transportation, import and export service providers to ensure business strategies are supported through execution.  We are accountable for transportation execution and the financial impact of our expenditures, while ensuring Hallmark's commitment to regulatory, social and ethical responsibility.


The Transportation Strategist is responsible for conducting all research, data collection and analysis in support of carrier strategy development, sourcing, and performance management. The Strategist will use Hallmark shipment characteristics & volume patterns, along with industry, business, customer and supplier knowledge & insights to optimize solutions to meet Hallmark's transportation needs at the best price. The Strategist will use data, reporting & analytic tools to model and measure cost, service, and carrier performance to specified transportation requirements. The Transportation Strategist will develop and execute best-practice procurement strategies when sourcing & negotiating rates and contracts with carriers, and maintain key relationships with carriers and service providers.

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years professional work experience


Your resume will stand out if you have:

  • 3+ years operations or management experience in supply chain, logistics, or domestic / international transportation 
  • 3+ years experience in analysis, data mining, or decision making using various data sources (e.g.: Microsoft Excel and Access, Microstrategy,Tableau). 
  • Strong data-driven mindset with proven ability to analyze and interpret data to aid in problem solving.
  • Demonstrated negotiating, influencing, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills; able to summarize and communicate direction to business partners
  • Proven ability to balance strategic & tactical job functions
  • Experience in developing SOPs, SLAs, service contracts, and interpreting technical and/or legal documentation
  • Ability to align strategies & decisions to department vision
  • Eager to grow industry & end-to-end process expertise
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally, with both internal and external business partners
