As a member of the Hallmark.com Creative Marketing team, you’ll partner with a cross-disciplinary network of user experience, web development and marketing professionals to turn business strategies into exceptional, on-brand design solutions. With a focus on Hallmark’s growing eCommerce websites, our team delivers consumer-facing web experiences that have a direct impact on brand engagement, brand relevance and revenue growth.

Our team is part of a larger creative community at Hallmark that includes writers, designers, illustrators, product creators, animators, photographers and more. It’s a place where creatives thrive, and their value is understood. We’re actively engaged with studio managers, art directors and peers in maintaining a productive, engaged, flexible and resilient creative environment.  The Web Designer is assigned work and takes direction from the Hallmark.com Studio Art Director (and, at times, the Studio Editorial Director) who lead the team.



As a member of the Creative Marketing Studio, the Web Designer uses existing photography, style guides and other creative assets—as well as creating new design solutions from scratch—to solve challenges in a web-specific environment. In this role you’ll design homepages, marketing landing pages, shop pages, communications, and content updates across Hallmark.com. and Hallmark.com/card. Your designs will deliver on all the elements of strong creative execution: emotion, concept, trend, color, hierarchy, editorial tone, and visual impact. You’ll be accountable for developing design playbooks, wireframes, mockups, and other conceptual guides to facilitate cross-team strategizing and providing input for photo shoots and performing photo retouching as needed. You’ll also publish content via a Content Management System.


As part of the creative process, the Web Designer collaborates with UX and UI Designers, front-end web developers, our marketing partners, and other members of the Creative Marketing Studio. You’ll apply and share formal and informal knowledge with these teams and help each other stay up-to-speed on the social expression and other relevant industries, marketplaces, and products. You’ll makes recommendations for evolving the marketing strategies and capabilities of the website and bring forth solutions that are grounded in brand and consumer understanding and aimed at our business objectives. The Web Designer is a constant learner who’s always evolving their design contributions while meeting productivity goals. Strong communication, visionary, and strategic skills are needed to help our team succeed.


Note: This role collaborates regularly with UX and UI designers, but this is not a UX or UI role.




The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of professional experience
  • 3+ years professional experience in graphic design, web design, multimedia or digital communications field.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Experience using web design tools (Axure, AdobeXD, Sketch, InVision)



A portfolio of your work that demonstrates strong visual design skills and thought process. We’d like to see a sampling of digital design proof points, including:

  • Examples of website marketing and/or other digital marketing with an e-commerce focus: Digital ads, animated gifs, email, internal communications, promotional webpage content, social posts, etc.
  • Campaign landing pages
  • Informational landing pages
  • Examples of exemplary work involving photo retouching, image manipulation, COB-ing, color balancing, etc.
  • Examples of successful digital design application of corporate branding, marketing campaign or seasonal style guides
  • Thoughtful typography treatment of taglines or other copy


Addtional Preferred Qualfications:

  • Basic understanding of technologies used to build web-based solutions (responsive design, different file types, CMS, HTML, CSS, etc.)
  • Experience working with a Content Management System (CMS)
  • 5+ years of working in web design, graphic design, visual design, or related field
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and teamwork skills along with excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise way, ensuring the organization makes rapid and informed decisions
  • Strong people skills – ability to work effectively across discipline, role, department and leadership level
  • Self-motivation with capability of balancing multiple projects and producing deliverables in a timely manner
  • Execute with a high attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of web accessibility standards
