The Crown Room is a kitchen that provides meal services and catering services to all 3 shifts, a total population of 750 Hallmark employees. Candidate must have significant experience performing multiple food service and catering duties in a high-volume kitchen.

The Crown Room is a corporate food services operation that provides high quality meals for the Lawrence Cafe.


This 2nd shift Food Service Assistant position will be responsible for high quality standards in our Cafe operation.
•Responsible for preparing packaged food and hot food production.
•Assists with production for catering orders.
•Stocks Micro Mart and merchandises product.  Includes beverages, snacks, grab and go packaged food, condiments, etc.
•Food production includes preparing recipes, baking, and cold food prep.
•Provides coverage for 1st and 3rd shift cafe employees when needed.
•Custodial work will include sanitizing all customer use areas between break periods, sweeping, mopping, walls, fryers, grill, ovens, surfaces, dish station, empty trash, maintain clean refrigeration and storeroom as assigned.
•Food production includes preparing recipes, baking, and cold food prep.
•Assists Culinary Assistant with ordering, putting away stock, and menu planning.
•Responsible for adhering to food cost guidelines.
•Communicates with shift leadership as needed.
•Maintains compliance with Health Department regulations at all times. Monitors food temperatures using appropriate temp logs.  Responsible for unused food safety following guidelines on cooling, storing, and labeling all products.
•Proficient in the use of knives, Hobart mixers, meat slicers, steamer, convection ovens, digital scales, assorted small hand tools, flat grill, deep fryers,  steam tables, and assorted service tools.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year foodservice/production experience
  • Knowledge of Health department food safety standards 
  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds, stand for 8 hours with lunch and breaks, walk 1 mile, push and pull 50 pound carts
  • Ability to use a variety of food service equipment such as coffee makers, cooking utensils, sharp knives, ovens, and warming ovens



  • Knowledgeable of highest quality standards in food preparation.
    •Able to maintain timeliness of food production at optimal levels at all times.
    •Can handle exposure to hot foods, steam, and hot appliances on a daily basis.
    •Strong interpersonal skill to interact with customers and employees.
    •High degree of motivation, conscientiousness, organization, and detail orientation.
    •Must be highly productive, flexible and able to multi-task.

 Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor as the work is very visible to clients and could produce a strong positive or negative impact on the department or company image.  This position requires the use of a variety of food service equipment and a wide range of cleaning equipment and chemicals such as bleach, window cleaner, degreaser, and coffee urn cleaner. This position will also include exposure to bleach fumes and other cleaning products, hot foods, steam, hot appliances, and sharp cutting blades on a daily basis, as well as slippery floors when spills occur and during cleaning. Will also be exposed to normal levels of industrial kitchen-related noises.
