As an Industrial Engineer at Hallmark, you will work on meaningful projects tied to Hallmark business objectives, using your industry experience and technical leadership to aid in the design and implementation of new or improved products, processes, or service that provide the greatest promise of results for Hallmark’s businesses. You’ll be leading change and innovation with your knowledge of process improvement and capital project justification, while building relationships with collaborators both internal and external, and mentor other engineers to expand Hallmark’s technical knowledge base. The Greetings Production Facility in Lawrence, Kansas is a fast paced production environment that produces greeting cards. Disciplines within the plant include the Production Team as well as Production Art, Production Planning, Engineering, and Plant and Facilities Maintenance. The Greetings Plant priorities are to exceed our customer’s expectations in timing and quality while significantly reducing cycle times and reducing our total cost of product. A disciplined problem solving approach, using a PDCA/A3 tools, by our engaged leadership team and operators is essential to achieving our lead time and cost reduction targets.


The Industrial Engineer applies engineering principles, industry experience, and technical leadership to the design and implementation of new or improved products, processes, or services that provide the greatest promise of results for Hallmark’s businesses. Possesses a breadth of knowledge that suitably serves the constantly evolving needs of our company and promotes the larger success of our endeavors. Demonstrates a depth of knowledge in one or more professional fields to supply the authority and expertise necessary for driving important priorities forward.


Responsibilities include:

  • Balances conceptual thinking with deep analysis and can switch between the two when needed. Receives input from many diverse sources and integrates it as appropriate. Surveys our industry continuously and those adjacent for insights. Incorporates lean practices throughout any undertaking for maximum impact.
  • Contributes to envisioning a desired future state, influencing colleagues and leaders to embrace this position, and shaping strategies to realize the goal for all types of customers. Recommend solutions, plans development and execution, and performs at an accelerated rate to deliver as required. Conveys clearly the expected outcome. Deals effectively with ambiguity and frequent demand changes.
  • Collaborates occasionally with partners for shared benefit. Represents the focused interests of Hallmark in planning and building unique capabilities. Fosters good relationships with external suppliers that advance our standing ahead of competitors. Mentors peers where apropos to expand our foundation of wisdom and acumen.

This is an advancement position that will be filled at a I, II or III depending on candidate background and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering



  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management or related field
  • 5+ years of related Engineering experience
  • Certification(s) in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or Project Management
  • Supply Chain or Logistics experience
  • Experience in leading change and innovation
  • Experience in analyzing, justifying and managing capital projects



  • This is  a progression position that will be filled at a I, II, or III depending on candidate background and experience. 
  • This position is located onsite at our Greetings Production Facility in Lawrence, KS. Some relocation assistance is available.
