The Maintenance Specialist position reports through the Maintenance Department within the Leavenworth Production Center.  Individuals in this department provide the necessary skills to install and maintain the production equipment in support of manufacturing.   


The Maintenance Mechanic position in Leavenworth is on 2nd shift (3:30pm - 12:00am), Monday through Friday.


The Maintenance Mechanic in Leavenworth must demonstrate a broad range of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to make on site repairs of equipment.  In this position you will be required to repair and maintain equipment using available resources such as schematics and manuals.  Should have the basic ability to troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), utilize Human Machine Interface (HMI), affect mechanical and electrical repairs and above all - be proactive in diagnosing equipment issues.  Taking the initiative to problem solve and drive performance initiatives is highly valued.


The Maintenance Mechanic has met the City of Leavenworth requirements for an electrical license and has successfully completed the National Electrical Code (NEC) test in order to possess a City of Leavenworth Journeyman or Master electrical license. 


Note:  If an applicant’s work experience has fulfilled the apprenticeship requirements agreed upon by the City of Leavenworth, but has not yet completed the NEC test, the applicant will be determined as qualified and will have 1 year to complete the NEC test. 


If the applicant’s work experience has not fulfilled the apprenticeship requirements agreed upon by the City of Leavenworth, the applicant will be determined as qualified and will have 2 ½ years  (apprenticeship + time to pass the test) to pass the NEC test.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Completed certification for technical training courses in Industrial Technologies (including the following courses: Basic Electricity, Basic Electronics, Basic Mechanical Systems) OR at least 2 years of work experience in Industrial Technologies
  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs frequently and 60 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to constantly stand, walk, twist, bend, and reach at/above shoulder level
  • Ability to frequently work in awkward positions and occasionally work from ladders



  • Associate Degree in Electronics
  • Completed technical training coursework in Welding and Machine Shop
  • Proficient understanding of Electronics, Electro-Mechanical and Solid State Systems, Electrical Motor Controls I and II, Programmable Logic Controllers, Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers, AC Control Systems for 120/240/480 voltages
  • Basic math, written and oral communication skills, as well as basic computer skills
  • Ability to set up area and work under pressure to meet production targets
  • Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures for wearing PPE, lock/and tagout, and handling hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to accept other duties as assigned
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge
  • Ability to work as a team member



  • Upon hire a color vision test will be conducted. Candidate must have the ability to pass a color vision test and be able to distinguish between electrical wire colors
  • Work overtime as required during peak seasons.
  • This is a maintenance environment that requires wearing appropriate PPE and following operating procedures when working with hazardous chemicals, hazardous energies, and in harsh operating environments without climate controls
  • Must wear PPE for Arc Flash protection, as well as other PPE such as safety glasses and safety shoes
  • Required to operate hand powered tools and industrial shop machinery
  • Hearing protection is required by Hallmark
  • Work from ladders required 1% of the time


This position is located in Leavenworth, Kansas.  Relocation is not provided.
