In this position, you will lead an ink manufacturing area tasked with supporting all print operations within the Hallmark Leavenworth Production Facility. You and your associates will provide technical support to get jobs color matched and running, then ensure printing presses are supplied with ink. Using your technical skills, you will have the opportunity to build an effective team to support this growing operation.


The Leavenworth Section Manager directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of product(s), distribution of products, and tooling. The Section Manager supervises up to 35 Hallmark employees (with additional agency employees added during peaks), oversees the scheduling and assignment of work, and verifies that production, serviceability, cost, and quality standards are met.  The Section Manager also ensures good housekeeping practices and positive employee relations are maintained, and that safety regulations are followed.

Some of expectations of the Section manager are:

  1. Meets or exceeds departmental objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.  
  2. Provides feedback, written and verbal, that accurately reflects the performance of each individual employee.
  3. Makes work assignments for personnel; accomplish work results, establishes priorities, monitors progress, revises schedules, establishes priorities, monitors progress and identifies and resolves problems.
  4. Maintains staff by anticipating personnel requirements, looks for out-of-the box solutions to handle peak needs, keeps management apprised of those needs.  Participates in interviewing, assessing talent, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  5. Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and is regarded as Subject Matter Expert (SME).  Is seen as a credible source of information and is sought out for this expertise.     
  6. Acts as a representative of Hallmark to their direct reports and is the resource direct reports seek out.  Knowledgeable regarding company policies and any governmental laws/regulations across the various functional areas:  Environmental, Safety, Human Resources, Finance, (such as Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, OSHA standards, etc.) that affects the work group and assures compliance with those regulations.   

The Section Manager position may be filled at a Section Manager level I, II, or III, depending on experience.   This position may be filled as a 1st shift, 2nd shift, or 3rd shift position.

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Associates Degree OR a minimum of 3 years supervising direct reports
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Project management experience
  • Adept at seeing opportunities to improve upon the status quo and implementing solutions
  • Familiarity with principles with LEAN
  • Ink manufacturing experience supporting and wide web water based printing operation.
  • Working knowledge of color measurement and calibration equipment such as X-Rite
  • Experience managing an ink manufacturing operation supporting gravure and flexo printing processes
