Operations Manager (Stock/Warehouse)

 

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing distribution area activities as required to meet quality, cost and service objectives in a distribution environment.  The Operations Manager drives strategic lean initiatives to improve overall performance of their area.  The Operations Manager is responsible for executing distribution processes which include warehouse, stock and corrugate operations.

 

The Operations Manager promotes and implements strategic direction, champions significant changes in receiving, storage and replenishment processes and participates in implementing various cost-effective productivity methods to positively impact the Hallmark business.  The Operations Manager maintains strong relationships with plant management, key business partners and others who may affect productivity within their area.  The Operations Manager must be adept at managing broad processes and be highly effective at leading problem solving.  Possesses technical expertise and leadership for the implementation of innovative processes with a special emphasis/proficiency on the LEAN tools and innovation in distribution processes.  The Operations Manager possesses knowledge in best practice methods of receiving storage and replenishment.  The Operations Manager takes the initiative to mentor new supervisors and staff in his/her area.  They take the lead and coach regarding improvement activities, Kaizen events, and other problem-solving opportunities including safety initiatives. The Operations Manager will engage their employees through exceptional and transparent communication.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of operations leadership experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or production operations
  • Experience in logistics, material handling or order fulfillment
  • Experience managing in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Strong influencing skills to lead, coach and mentor individuals and teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills –includes both verbal and written
  • Decision-making and sound judgment
  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with principles of LEAN

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • This position manages a 3-shift operation, therefore some flexibility in hours is necessary. The work schedule is Monday – Friday.
  • The Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center is located 20 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Distribution Center has an onsite café and card shop.
