The Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center provides for the planning and execution of product shipments to Hallmark retailers. The distribution center focuses on supplying the necessary products to all of Hallmark retailers in a cost efficient and timely manner. This includes scheduling and planning of all product lines and their fulfillment activities across a variety of Hallmark customers. Building strong relationships with internal and external partners ensure that speed to market and flawless execution at the retail level are among our highest priorities.

 

The Hallmark Liberty Section Manager will direct the activities of hourly employees engaged in performing work related to the distribution of product to Hallmark retailers. The principal responsibility of a Section Manager is to supervise 40-55 employees involved in one or more distribution operation processes. This includes assigning work to department personnel and verifying that production standards are met. The manager will develop a thorough understanding of the process, to ensure that operations run as efficiently as possible, that cost parameters are met, that execution meets high quality standards, and that focus is put on continually improving the process to exceed customer expectations. The Section Manager is responsible for the counseling, interviewing, training and evaluation of department personnel. In addition, the Section Manager ensures that proper maintenance is performed, good housekeeping practices and positive employee relations are maintained and safety regulations are followed.

 

  • The Section Manager position is a 2nd (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) shift opportunity.
  • Incumbent must be able to work either earlier or later than the stated hours.  Weekend overtime is required as needed.  Incumbent may be required to work across all shifts, depending upon business needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Associates Degree or higher OR a minimum of 3 years supervising direct reports OR will complete a Bachelor's Degree in May 2019

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree  - preferably in supply chain, engineering, or production operations
  • Experience managing in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills –includes  both verbal and written 
  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Project management experience
  • Adept at seeing opportunities to improve upon the status quo and implementing solutions
  • Familiarity with principles of LEAN
  • Experience with Microsoft Office   

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • This position is a 2nd (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) shift opportunity.  Start times are flexible. Occasional weekend overtime required.
  • Incumbent must be able to work either earlier or later than the stated work hours.  Incumbent may be required to work across all shifts depending upon business needs.
  • The Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center is located 20 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. 
  • Relocation will not be provided.
