The Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center provides for the planning and execution of product shipments to Hallmark retailers. The distribution center focuses on supplying the necessary products to all of Hallmark retailers in a cost efficient and timely manner. This includes scheduling and planning of all product lines and their fulfillment activities across a variety of Hallmark customers. Building strong relationships with internal and external partners ensure that speed to market and flawless execution at the retail level are among our highest priorities.


Department Description:

The Maintenance Department has varied roles that service our internal customer’s maintenance needs for Conveying equipment, Sorting equipment, Order Filling equipment, Controls, HVAC, Telecom, High Voltage Power Distribution, Air, Fire Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and Plumbing Systems within the 1.7 MM sq. ft. Liberty Distribution Center and satellite Distribution Centers.  The department also supports grounds, sanitation, and Security needs of the facility.  Managing in this department requires development, promotion, and implementation of strategic directions and innovative solutions that produce revolutionary change to the state of the Facility’s systems.


Section Manager - 3rd shift:

The work schedule for this full-time position is Sunday - Thursday, 10:30 pm – 7:30 am although there will be times that the position will require flexibility to interface with other shifts.

A Section Manager in Maintenance provides leadership to the development of Maintenance team members to help them achieve their goals and enhance their skills. They formulate and administer a program of preventative maintenance for all of the Liberty Distribution Center’s related Equipment. This includes assigning weekly preventative maintenance work orders as well as updating equipment history files and records using Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS). They manage a parts and labor budget and oversee the ordering of supplies ensuring proper inventory levels necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the Facility’s systems. They constantly work with vendors to reduce cost of parts while maintaining quality standards. They manage both straight time and overtime pay and constantly monitor the budgets identifying trends as well as looking for opportunities to meet Distribution budget objectives. They perform confidently in formal and informal leadership roles, and ensure all work assigned is done efficiently and safely. They manage performance of team members via both formal and informal means. They develop annual Capital requirements for the facility and submit/manage Capital projects with innovative solutions both on their own and in partnership with other departments. They use technical skills and contact networks inside and outside Hallmark to link technologies and companies together to push the existing technical envelope.  The Maintenance Section Manager must be able to clearly develop and communicate not only their own ideas but execute others’ ideas as well. They utilize Lean principles and tools with a focus on safety and reduction of waste. They look for and implement opportunities for reduction of utility usage. This assignment includes support for Technical Services, Facilities Services, Building Services, and the building’s cleaning contract.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field OR technical certification in a maintenance related field OR 3+ years of supervising direct reports in a technical role. 


Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of maintenance experience which includes proven project and employee leadership

Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Additional Details:

This position is a 3rd shift position, Sunday - Thursday nights, 10:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Occasional weekend overtime required.

Incumbent must be able to work either earlier or later than the stated work hours.  Incumbent may be required to work across all shifts depending upon business needs.

The Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center is located 20 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Relocation will not be provided.
