The Shipping Attendant position is a TEMP TO HIRE 2nd shift Hallmark opportunity located at the Carefree Caves in Independence, MO.  The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm. This position will help support our peak season in the shipping department through mid-December.Once the temporary assignment is completed successfully, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position within the Liberty DC. At completion of assignment, you will be eligible for a $250 bonus. *

*There is no guarantee that a permanent shipping position will be available at the conclusion of your assignment.  However, we have lots of additional positions within our Distribution Center. Completion bonus is determined by start date.



Shipping Attendants accurately and efficiently transport, handle, and load customer orders for shipment. Additional responsibilities include the safe operation of powered equipment, PC data input/access, document processing utilizing handheld RF terminals and order analysis problem solving. The position requires the incumbent to work overtime when requested. Teamwork, cooperation, and flexibility, along with LEAN principles of problem solving and eliminating waste are expectations of the position. Business needs of the department require incumbents to work overtime in peak seasons and may require further additions or changes of this position at any given time. The Shipping Attendant manually or with powered equipment (in tight space restrictions of trailer) loads all freight and Preselect parcel volume into trailers based on account shipping specifications. Exercises proper care in positioning of cartons to avoid damage in transit and maximize trailer utilization. Practices safe work habits and actively participates in sustaining department 5S objectives.


Responsibilities include:

  • Combines orders by stacking cartons weighing up to 60 pounds on conveyors or pallets, ensuring correctness of Bills of Lading, labels, close-out sheets, carton counts. Analyzes, research, and resolve problem orders, including product or carton shortages, as well as late or rush shipments. Makes daily business decisions regarding proper cost-effective use of company resources, customer service requests, and order prioritization. Once all order information is verified, release completed shipment to be loaded into trailer. Transports pallet loads with powered and non-powered equipment to dock/trailer and performs routine equipment maintenance.
  • Utilizes PC terminal to access or input order information. Assist other areas within Shipping, due to volume or staffing needs. Qualified to work in support areas (diverts, induction station, office) as needed.
  • Operation of lift truck while assisting/stocking the Preselect (non-conveyable)/NCOP areas. Tasks include pushing filled stock off of slabs onto pallets, hauling pallets to staging area and loading parcel/freight trailers, and preparing paperwork for proper shipment of orders.

  • Ability to constantly, stand, walk push/pull and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds constantly, up to 40 pounds frequently and lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.



  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must have basic math skills, problem-solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Flexible – able to work in a variety of conditions with automated equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks.
  • VAX knowledge.



  • The Shipping Attendant position is a TEMP TO HIRE 2nd shift Hallmark opportunity located at the Carefree Caves in Independence, MO.

  • This role could require climbing steps or ladders and the use of catwalks over 20 feet from the floor
  • Relocation will not be provided.
