Sr. Distribution Operations Manager

The Senior Distribution Center Operations Manager is a key leadership role, that is part of the Hallmark Liberty Distribution leadership team and responsible for the outbound distribution fulfillment processes.  The primary responsibility of a Senior DC Operations Manager is developing strategies to deliver high levels of outbound productivity and profitability in a large DC facility which include: department budget, operating costs, productivity, quality, staffing, safety, and employee morale.  Also, the role is accountable for the management and development of their leadership team; implementing and maintaining lean principles;  as well as providing strategic direction and continuous improvement for the facility.

This position exists to provide overall direction for critical outbound functions to enable accurate and timely delivery of quality products to retail.  This role assists in setting the strategic operational direction for the Distribution Center which supports Hallmark Greetings.  And it collaborates closely with all members of the Senior Leadership team to ensure the  developed plans are executed with precision by the operations teams. It directly supervises the Order Processing Management Team, encompassing 25-30 exempt employees, up to 900 non-exempt employees and a 3 - shift / 7- day a week operation.

Key Accountabilities: 

• Supports the development of business and organizational strategies which include determining and deploying facility objectives and organizational design that align with supply chain and company goals.  Confers with senior leadership to coordinate warehouse activities, goals, labor, sales, production and financials.
• Ensures appropriate procedures and resources are in place so product is picked, processed and shipped in a timely, accurate manner.  
• In support of retail dates, inventory serviceability and service commitments: develops production plans to Seasonal and Everyday filling and shipping activities, monitors daily progress toward meeting ship schedules, plans future order fulfillment requirements and adjusts plans as required to ensure overall service levels are achieved at the lowest cost possible.
• Drives continuous improvement activities throughout all areas of responsibility and maintains effective budgetary and cost management systems to improve yearly CPI.  Key accountabilities include lean activities, efficiency in floor layout, line layout, improving order processing methods, serving on engineering project teams, creating new solutions in support of Logistic Solutions initiatives.  
• Ensures accuracy of finished goods inventory in support of uninterrupted flow of shipments to retail accounts.  
• Develops quality systems to ensure the highest levels of retail serviceability.  Work with department managers, engineers and retail logistics planner to develop packing guidelines, auditing procedures and new service standards to improve retail execution.  
• Determines and executes action plans to meet changing needs of customers, balancing volume and mix changes while ensuring Hallmark Greetings achieves service and efficiency expectations.
• Achieves stretch goals by coaching/teaching, establishing standards and mechanisms to drive change and process improvement.
• Understands how to lead and balance diversity and inclusion work groups and formats. 
• Collaborates with Human Resources and Demand Planning to develop labor plans. Also with support staff (Finance, HR, Safety, IT and other Operations Managers) to build, secure and provide support and resources for key area projects and other staff initiatives or large scale projects.
• Collaboration within the supply chain to ensure the most efficient process/results.  Support the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote Hallmark key messages.
• Communicates a vision and sets clear expectations that inspire and engage their team and the organization. 
• Mentors managers in the area of technical/operational knowledge, development of leadership skills to further their career goals.
• Partners with senior leadership to develop and deploy a culture transformation that will increase employee engagement, leverage inclusion, improve results and deliver excellence in all we do.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field
• Minimum of 7 years operational leadership experience in distribution, logistics, material handling and order fulfillment environment and oversight for management teams and employees; or 10 years leading in Direct-to-consumer or omni-channel distribution operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) - Manhattan WMS experience, a huge plus.
• Experience in retail and consumer packaging distribution
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience building and leading diverse work populations
• Ability to handle changing priorities and good judgement in stressful situations
• Ability to motivate others with strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
• Experience leading transformational change in business processes and organizations
